Before you jump into any of the main tutorials, having a good understanding of the fundamentals of the rig is important. If you already know the basics of the rig and you're ready to learn a bit more about the UI now is the time.
First lets take a look at what you first see when you open the UI. (N
by default)
Notice how its divided up into groups? (The dark grey boxes) These will all be explained in a short moment, just remember if your panel doesn't look like this then you might be on an outdated version or a bug is happening.
This is the section at the very top of the panel, the first thing most users will see. This contains useful information about the rig such as its website link, a Discord link, DLC folder, and Wiki link.
There is also a version number of the rig listed, and a UI version option. If you wish to swap to a version of the UI before the UI update you can do it there.
In Version 1.5.2 a search bar was added that allows the user to search through nearly all of Ice Cube's options and settings, there are also "Jump to [NAME]" buttons throughout the search menu which will help you find which panel an option is in.
This is the section in the middle of the UI, they don't serve any actual function to the rig other than to keep the many settings of the rig out of the way so it doesn't affect your workflow scrolling and scrolling.
At the top you will see four tabs, Style, Controls, Materials, and Advanced, these four buttons hold all of the settings you'll need to use the rig. You may notice on some panels there is a second layer of choices, these allow you to swap between that panel's sub panels.
I recommend just going through the tabs and exploring for a while, once you've gotten to know it a bit better come back and continue on with the tutorials.
This section is a dynamically changing one, which means it will update depending on which tab you have selected. There isn't much to say about this tab but if you wish to learn more about the content in each of them go to our Features page.
File path boxes are text boxes that my rig will use to find certain files in the addon or your computer, used for skins, DLC, and internal content, they can be edited to almost anything.
The first button is an unpack/repack button and will unpack or repack the current file.
The textbox is the actual path itself.
The second button is the open file
button, it will open a file browser in which you can select the file you'd wish to open.
The final button is a refresh button, if you've done some changes to the current file and would like to update it in blender without restarted click this button.
Image boxes are used as a more visual UI for the user to interact with, you can find these across the rig such as the Downloaded Skins and DLC menus. To interact with them you click on the image or gray box and select another one from the popup window.
